Pinjol atau Pindar? Jangan Sampai Salah Pilih, Ini Bedanya!
At first glance, Pinjol and Pindar may sound alike, but the two are very different.
Pinjol refers to illegal online loans—unlicensed and not supervised by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK). Pindar (Pinjaman Daring Resmi or Official Online Loan) is a new term for legal digital lending services that are supervised by OJK and registered with AFPI (Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association).

In short, Pindar is legal and safe, while Pinjol is illegal and full of risks. To help you choose wisely, here are the key differences you should know:
- Legality & Supervision
- Pindar : Licensed and strictly monitored by OJK. Providers must comply with regulations such as the latest POJK (e.g., POJK No. 40/2024) for peer-to-peer lending platforms.
- Pinjol : Operates without a license and outside OJK supervision, allowing them to act without legal accountability.
- Transparency of Interest & Fees
- Pindar : Required to be transparent. OJK sets clear limits, for example, a maximum daily interest of 0.2% for short-term consumer loans.
- Pinjol : Often charges very high and unclear interest. Hidden fees may appear later, leaving borrowers shocked or trapped.
- Collection Ethics & Procedures
- Pindar : If a borrower is late, collectors must follow strict SOPs. They cannot collect outside permitted hours (such as late at night or on holidays). Collectors must also be certified by AFPI.
- Pinjol : Frequently uses intimidation, threats, or even spreads personal data to pressure borrowers—an unethical and unlawful practice.
- Data & Privacy Protection
- Pindar : Only allowed limited access—camera, microphone, and location (CAM-ILAN)—with clear disclosure and compliance with digital security standards.
- Pinjol : Often demands excessive access, such as contacts, files, or personal data, and may misuse that information.
- Complaint Channels & Consumer Protection
- Pindar : Provides official complaint channels through the platform, AFPI, or OJK, giving consumers a clear way to report issues.
- Pinjol : Offers no complaint mechanism. If problems occur, there is no authority to seek help from.
Simply put: “Pindar isn’t just a new label for Pinjol—it represents safe, responsible, and regulated fintech lending.”
So, if you ever need digital loans, always choose platforms registered with OJK and AFPI—that’s a strong sign you’re on the right path.
