Kalo Dapet Feedback dari Atasan, Terima Aja atau Tanggapin Bijak?

If you’ve ever worked in an office, you’ve probably been in this situation before:

"You feel like you’ve done a great job then suddenly, your boss gives you feedback that doesn’t sound so nice."

So, what should you do? Just nod and accept it to keep the peace, or respond wisely so you don’t get misunderstood?

1. Feedback Isn’t an Attack, It’s a Mirror

First things first: let’s shift how we see feedback. Feedback (especially from your boss) isn’t a personal attack — it’s a chance for reflection. Sometimes we don’t realize that there are small things we can still improve, like communication style, punctuality, or work accuracy.

2. Separate the Message from the Tone

Not every boss knows how to deliver feedback nicely — and that’s okay. What matters is learning to separate what’s being said from how it’s being said.

Example:

“Your report is a mess, fix it!” VS “Your report needs some formatting so the data is clearer.”

Same message, totally different tone, right? If you focus on the tone, you’ll probably get defensive. But if you focus on the actual message, you can learn and improve without taking it personally.

3. Respond Wisely

Being professional doesn’t mean staying silent or saying “yes” to everything. Responding wisely to feedback actually shows maturity and professionalism.

Here are a few tips:

By doing this, you’ll come across as respectful, thoughtful, and growth-minded someone who wants to improve, not just follow orders.

4. Use Feedback as a Tool for Growth

Here’s the truth: not all feedback is accurate. But every feedback can teach you something. Some comments might not fully apply and that’s fine. Accept them with an open mind, then take what’s useful and leave the rest.

In the workplace, being able to handle feedback well is a rare and valuable skill. People who stay open and reflective tend to grow faster than those who always think they’re right.

So, should you just accept it or respond wisely?

The answer is both.

Accept it calmly first, then respond wisely. Because at the end of the day, feedback isn’t about who’s right or wrong it’s about how you choose to grow from it.
